Graham Mattison

Former powerlifter, accomplished Leeds boxer and Alliance Boxing Club owner Graham Mattison is also one of our trainers at the club.

Passionate for sports and fitness from a young age Graham began competing in field events including shot put, hammer and discus.
He was encouraged to start powerlifting by his trainer Andy Bolton (the first man to lift 1000 lbs) and trained at Rall's Gym in Leeds. Competing in world championships in Miami, Finland and Ireland in 2011 Graham reached a ranking of number two in the world. He won the BPC UK International Open 2012 and was 2011 and 2012 British champion. Unfortunately due to injury Graham's powerlifting career was cut short and in 2012 took up boxing and was soon offered white collar fights. In 2015 Graham went to Malta where he beat Mike Carter and in March of 2015 he beat Richard Leak becoming the EBF Northern Area Heavyweight champion.

Graham's inspiration to train others stems from his grandfather's steadfast support throughout his powerlifting career, attending all his competitions around the world. Graham has a passion for coaching, helping people on their own journey to self improvement and to gain confidence and technique to meet their full potential.

Graham works together with Sam Smith in running the boxing fitness classes. He is a strength and conditioning coach and trains boxing technique.
